When I moved to Maine 30 years ago, I had two little boys to raise. When the boys reached school age I pursued my long-time dream of going to art school. I graduated from MECA, then Portland School of Art in 1992, and created a painting studio on the second floor of our carriage house in Portland.
Last summer my husband and I moved to Belfast, Maine where we have joined our younger son and his family to start an organic farm.
One of my first priorities at the farm has been to create a studio space for myself where I could continue to paint. The exploration of a crop of carrots seemed an apt subject to familiarize myself with my new surroundings.
